Outrun The Bear
$16.99
Sports are a microcosm of life. They provide goals to be achieved and obstacles to be overcome, they yield their share of joy and pain, and they’re a stage upon which the best and worst of humanity is displayed. They are also a gift of God, one that can be either treasured or abused.
In this book, you will learn how to fit your sports pursuits into the larger context of life in a healthy way, be encouraged to reflect on the presence and blessing of God in your sports endeavours, be challenged to participate in sports in such a way as to bring glory to God, and learn how to change to become more of the athlete and person you want to become.
Drawing from a lifetime in sports and over a decade as a pastor, Benno Kurvits shares his wealth of experience in “Outrun the Bear,” showing that there is a way for us to enjoy sports, and to seek to excel at them, while honouring both God and our fellow man in the process.

Starred Review. New York Times columnist Kristof and his wife, WuDunn, a former Times reporter, make a brilliantly argued case for investing in the health and autonomy of women worldwide. More girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the wars of the twentieth century, they write, detailing the rampant gendercide in the developing world, particularly in India and Pakistan. Far from merely making moral appeals, the authors posit that it is impossible for countries to climb out of poverty if only a fraction of women (9% in Pakistan, for example) participate in the labor force. China’s meteoric rise was due to women’s economic empowerment: 80% of the factory workers in the Guangdong province are female; six of the 10 richest self-made women in the world are Chinese. The authors reveal local women to be the most effective change agents: The best role for Americans… isn’t holding the microphone at the front of the rally but writing the checks, an assertion they contradict in their unnecessary profiles of American volunteers finding compensations for the lack of shopping malls and Netflix movies in making a difference abroad. Walking In Truth In A World Of Lies
$15.99Add to cartYou and I are being lied to on a regular basis. In fact, our entire culture is riddled with duplicity.
Scripture warns repeatedly of deception on a massive scale in the Last Days, so why are Christians seemingly so unconcerned? Has their access to theological information and their acceptance of orthodox doctrine caused them to believe they are impervious to being deceived?
There is only one way to stay safe from the deceiver’s powerful lies: We must allow the “love of the truth” to hold sway in our innermost being. Only then will we be capable of Walking in Truth in a World of Lies.
