Benaiah : Mighty Man Of God
$21.99
What happens when the king’s most obedient soldier is issued a wicked command?
Benaiah is valiant against men and beasts. He is known for three heroic deeds that lead to his appointment in the elite force of David’s Mighty Men: aggressively going down into a pit on a snowy day to kill a lion; fighting two Moabite ariels; and challenging a giant Egyptian, armed with only a staff, and killing him with the man’s own spear. When David is crowned king, Benaiah is made his chief bodyguard and eventually head of the whole army of Israel under King Solomon.
Reeling from the tragic cost of disobedience when he was young, Benaiah directs his life toward one chief aim: to be found a faithful, loyal, valiant and obedient soldier, servant of the King and follower of Yahweh.
But when “just following orders” leads to his part in adultery, murder and death, he questions his life’s direction. If both obedience and disobedience cause death, how can he ever find redemption?

Wonder Switch : The Difference Between Limiting Your Life And Living Your D
$25.99Reclaim your wonder, reshape your life.
We are all born with the wonder switch in the “on” position, but somewhere along the way, our wonder was crushed. When wonder dies, we begin believing the messages telling us to grow up and get in line. In other words, we were made for wonder, but it’s been educated right out of our souls.
Yet reclaiming your wonder–and with it, your life–is within your reach. In The Wonder Switch, join professional illusionist Harris III in a journey to bring you back to magic–not the stuff of sleight of hand that he performs across world stages, but real magic: love, hope, joy, belonging, meaning, and purpose.
Cynicism is the force that actively shuts down all of these things. But wonder is the key that unlocks your permission to believe again. The secret to a vibrant life is found in reawakening your childlike wonder, helping you to stop misusing your imagination to worry, and get back to dreaming, innovating, and creating the life you were actually meant to live.
In this book, you’ll discover:
*The surprising science behind the stories we tell ourselves and how they shape our lives
*How to identify what’s crushing your wonder
*Practices for getting curious and dreaming again
*How to create better internal drama that energizes rather than drains us
*The tools you need to redesign your life
*Why worry is a misuse of your imagination, and how to kick the habitThe beginning of everything you want, Harris writes, is on the other side of this switch.

Starred Review. New York Times columnist Kristof and his wife, WuDunn, a former Times reporter, make a brilliantly argued case for investing in the health and autonomy of women worldwide. More girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the wars of the twentieth century, they write, detailing the rampant gendercide in the developing world, particularly in India and Pakistan. Far from merely making moral appeals, the authors posit that it is impossible for countries to climb out of poverty if only a fraction of women (9% in Pakistan, for example) participate in the labor force. China’s meteoric rise was due to women’s economic empowerment: 80% of the factory workers in the Guangdong province are female; six of the 10 richest self-made women in the world are Chinese. The authors reveal local women to be the most effective change agents: The best role for Americans… isn’t holding the microphone at the front of the rally but writing the checks, an assertion they contradict in their unnecessary profiles of American volunteers finding compensations for the lack of shopping malls and Netflix movies in making a difference abroad.
