Lexham Geographic Commentary On Acts Through Revelation
$54.99
Walking in the footsteps of the Apostles.
The Lexham Geographic Commentary on Acts through Revelation puts readers in the sandals of the Apostles as they travel throughout the Mediterranean, explaining the geographical setting for the spread of Christianity in the first century. Geography is a central concern throughout the writings of Paul and the Apostles, but the full significance of its geographical context is easily overlooked without a familiarity with the places, the types of transportation, the relative distances, and the travel conditions around the ancient Mediterranean. Luke’s account mentions places from all over the known world, and Paul’s missionary travels covered an estimated 15,000 miles by land and sea. The Lexham Geographic Commentary gives you insight into the importance of all of these locations–both culturally and spatially–and provides a deeper understanding of the spread of early Christianity.

Starred Review. New York Times columnist Kristof and his wife, WuDunn, a former Times reporter, make a brilliantly argued case for investing in the health and autonomy of women worldwide. More girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the wars of the twentieth century, they write, detailing the rampant gendercide in the developing world, particularly in India and Pakistan. Far from merely making moral appeals, the authors posit that it is impossible for countries to climb out of poverty if only a fraction of women (9% in Pakistan, for example) participate in the labor force. China’s meteoric rise was due to women’s economic empowerment: 80% of the factory workers in the Guangdong province are female; six of the 10 richest self-made women in the world are Chinese. The authors reveal local women to be the most effective change agents: The best role for Americans… isn’t holding the microphone at the front of the rally but writing the checks, an assertion they contradict in their unnecessary profiles of American volunteers finding compensations for the lack of shopping malls and Netflix movies in making a difference abroad. Dont Give The Enemy A Seat At Your Table Study Guide (Student/Study Guide)
$13.99Add to cartIn this study, bestselling author and pastor Louie Giglio relates how several years ago he experiencing one of his toughest seasons as a leader. He was feeling attacked, and in a moment of weakness, he fired off an angry text to a friend. It took him five minutes to compose the message-paragraphs of woe about the one causing harm. The nine-word text back from his friend simply said, “Don’t give the enemy a seat at your table.”
Louie relates how this simple text led him to realize that he had been allowing his adversary-the devil-into the conversation going on in his mind. He had, in fact, been giving his enemy a seat at his table. In turn, this led Louie to Psalm 23, one of the most loved texts in all of Scripture that has comforted God’s people throughout the ages.
As group members go through this study, they will see they have the power, through Christ, to take back control of their thoughts and emotions. As they uncover the meaning behind the words of Psalm 23, they will discover that God is saying they do not have to give a place to fear, envy, or despair in their lives. Ultimately, they will walk away with practical ways to defeat the enemy’s lies and know how to experience peace and security in the midst of any situation as they learn to listen to voice of their Shepherd.
