  • Staying Pure

    $7.99

Part of initial launch of Lift Every Voice imprint. First in a series of books with the main character of Payton Skky. For 12-17 year-old female African-Americans. Sponsored by the Institute for Black Family Development.

Staying Pure addresses the pressures African-American girls face to stay physically pure and remain devoted to God. Not only is Payton Skky popular, but she is also dating the best looking guy at her high school. While he is pressuring her to sleep with him, Payton is content to wait, convinced that he is the one she will marry. As the pressure increases Payton starts to wonder if waiting is really worth it, especially since she believes that they will always be together. When Payton’s boyfriend breaks up with her for a more willing girl, Payton is distraught. How could God allow this to happen? They were supposed to be together forever. If she had slept with him would they still be together? Payton struggles with these questions and with exactly what is God’s plan for and meaning of purity.

Moody Press, in partnership with The Institute for Black Family Development, is launching a new joint imprint–Lift Every Voice. The vision for this endeavor is to see African-American Christians encouraged in their faith in Jesus Christ through quality books written by African Americans. While Moody Press already publishes several African-American authors, such as Tony Evans, Crawford Loritts, and Clarence Shuler, Life Every Voice products will be targeted almost exclusively toward African Americans.
